Privy

March 25th, 2008

Murphy is one of those people that falls through the cracks. The privy to the mind melter. Some fall into a spiral of bad choices that drags them down slowly with the victim awakening one day with the realization that their path is irreversible. Others are snatched by the collar and dragged through the darkness kicking and screaming unbeknown. Theres the child rapist whose life has been deformed by social norms and habitual disregard and theres the child whose been raped who forever struggles with the mental scar. There are those who destroy and those are destroyed.

Rockets Kings

February 21st, 2008

I’ve never been that big of a Houston Rockets fan. I’m originally from Topick, Texas which is like twenty minutes south of Dallas. The Mavs aren’t that great, but I despise the Spurs. As far as NBA teams in Texas goes, Rockets are alright. I’ll root for them, but I have little emotional attachment to them like I have with the Mavs.

Dear Morphy: A look at chess today

February 21st, 2008

In the 1850s there was a chess player named Paul Morphy, the biggest thing in chess since marble pieces. He played professionally by the age of ten and beat his first grandmaster before he needed to shave. Clubs were filled with players trying to be the next Morphy. By 1858, everyone in America was playing chess because of Morphy. By the mid 1860s, Morphy went off the deep end. He spent much of his older life despising chess and trying to get his law firm off the ground. His plans were changed when the American Civil War and nothing was really the same again. Morphy mulled around his hometown of New Orleans in a bathrobe being brash to female strangers. He was found naked and dead in his home on July 10, 1884 surrounded by a plethora of women’s shoes.

The Philosophy of Team Fortress 2

January 23rd, 2008

Team Fortress 2 has entered our gaming consciousness. The explosive gameplay, its amusing look and online debauchery is in vivid collective thought. Though unlike other multiplayer stand-outs like Counter-Strike and Halo, Valve’s latest hit offers a buffet of existential choices. Were as the latter games have one entity to be perfected by players, Team Fortress 2 requires 9 state’s of mind to transcend.

Excursions

August 16th, 2007

You, me, and a sixer of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
A conglomeration of better things never before written.

Feet dangled off a dock watching the sun punch out for the day.
We looked to the horizon and took our stock. A long sigh is how we conveyed.
We relaxed, laughed, and grabbed a bite,
but wouldn’t let that be the end of the night.

Bacchus, New York

August 4th, 2007

The paper trail is long. You stalk the percentages and calculate the opportunity; it’s the business of money. But, I’m not one of those milk sharks trying to pound a dime out of a dollar before five; living by the creed “money makes the world turn”. I exploit people for a living. A Wall St. rat and not a whole lot more. I’m not the trader trying to steak his flag on the top of the hill, I’m that white collar degenerate trying to remain as sloshed, smashed and wasted as I possibly can as to forget I never will.
